Reckless Daughter is BACK!

So after months of homelessness, touring, and having all my jewelry tools and supplies in storage I am back at my work desk, and cranking 'em out again! This time with a vengence. I've recently gotten in working with vintage silverware and making pendants with them. Here's about half of what I've made since I've settled into my Brooklyn home and studio. Up top is a huge bib necklace made from vintage watches and chains.

Here are some of the pieces that feature vintage silverware....

Vintage nickel silver spoon ladle and quartz

Ornate floral spoon handle pendant

This is an AMAZING engraved cake server blade, silver plated, with this cool kind of deco-ish face on it. I added swags of chain and a crystal

Floral butter knife blade pendant.

This is the handle of a vintage Italian Butter knife. I have more!

I've also still been really into turquoise and southwestern jewelry.

 A gorgeous Turquoise charm bracelet.

Turquoise and vintage Tuareg beads. Kinda has the vibe of a Navajo Squash blossom necklace, but the beads are Middle Eastern. I made this piece stuck inside during hurricane Sandy.

Quartz and Alpaca pendants with onysx and shell inlay. The inlaid pieces were earrings originally.

These are some of the more delicate heirloom inspired pieces.

Sterling silver heart charms, and freshwater seed pearls.

Carved glass cameo or intaglio, with vintage trifari rhinestones and delicate gold tone chains.

Vintage cloisonne fish charms, fresh water pearls and chains.

Two new pairs of earrings! Rhinestones and blades!

I also made some huge show stopping pieces...you know the kind....

Agate and vintage belly dancer chain belt!

Rhinestones! And a crystal disco ball! And vintage chains! YEAH!

Lots and lots of vintage saint medallions on lots and lots of chains. This theme is a recurring one, much like the watch necklace up top.

Vintage horse brass, and large quartz pendants.

I made more, so there will be another edition soon!

Rita Lee!!!

HEEYYYY!!! I'm back after many months. I was on hiatus mostly because I found myself homeless  for much of the summer. Oh I was fine, you know...couch surfed....slept in a rehearsal studio for one of the bands I was in...cat sat a couple times...but now I'm living in an amazing house in park slope, my jewelry studio set up in my room again, and Im ready to work! There will be posts on the new jewelry I'm making really soon, but for now, heres a shout out to one of my new favorite musicians, Rita Lee, one of the founding members the Brazilian psych-rock band Os Mutantes! I've been all about the rock of my countrymen lately (I'm half Brazilian, FYI...) and I'm going to do a few more photo montages of other Brazilian rock ladies.

Super sexy and badass!

She wasn't afraid to wear some pretty wild shit...

I love how it's this super sexy boudoir looking scene, but then theres an amazing analog synth on the floor. I have an equal love of silk robes and vintage keyboards...

Spring 2012 Jewelry! Part 2!

So, I had just posted about all the necklaces I've made over the course of the past couple months...I also made mad earrings!

These were made from pieces of a broken Native American cuff bracelet,

I love the detailing.

I made theses from the handles on vintage silver plated spoons! They were rogers spoons, and I found out the pattern was called "Athens".

Awesome.

These are made from fork tines, and these really badass tribal/punk hooks.

plain fork tines.

These are silver blade charms from this vintage middle eastern necklace.

Also beautifully etched.

I had this cool vintage stelring silver bird necklace that was broken. I used the birds to make a couple pairs of earrings.

These had lovely moonstone drops.

These had the same birds, and some original amber from the necklace. I added sterling silver spike charms to the bottom.

Vintage Gold-filled watch band and emerald drops.

Tiny delicate detailing on the metal.

Feathers and vintage enamel and brass beads!!!!

This was from a sterling silver southewestern watch band. I added chain and tiny sterling feathers.

Onyx!

vintage marcasite, sterling silver chain, and moonstone drops....my favorites!!!!

Sterling and rhinestone watch bands with tiny tiny spikes....

I like how the stones look mad rough.

Sterling silver and citrine cufflinks transformed into earrings.

Vintage watch band and small quartz points.

Love this pair....may end up keeping them if they dont sell soon!
