LA lady

So, I recently took a trip out to LA to visit my sister. I hadnt been to Cali in a long time, not since my days playing with Lee "Scratch" Perry. This was also the first vacation I had taken in years. I had been on the road so much, that I was never able to travel just for the hell of it. Now I finally can, and its awesome.

A real rainbow over West Hollywood

There's a lot of this pretty/seedy architecture...I love it....

So, my favorite band (well, one of them) Oingo Boingo was from LA, and this is a guitar, dedicated to when they play the sunset music festival in 1987. I just stumbled upon it on my way to coffee bean. Like, Boingo is on the radio regularly in LA....its awesome....

gorgeous sky

more rad architecture

My sister scored us free tickets to see Sonic Youth at the Hollywood bowl....it was awesome.

Ok, so, there is this AMAZING museum/art installation/oddities collection called the Museum of Jurassic Technology. I don't really know how to explain it, but here are some cool images from it. Above is a miniature of a baroque theater set.

The illustrious canine Saint Christopher

Mice on toast. (yeah, you heard me....)

Athanasius Kircher: The World is Bound With Secret Knots (I have no idea....)

Portrait of Likka, the Russian space dog....
To sum up....
"L
ike a coat of two colors, the Museum serves dual functions. On the one hand the Museum provides the academic community with a specialized repository of relics and artifacts from the Lower Jurassic, with an emphasis on those that demonstrate unusual or curious technological qualities. On the other hand the Museum serves the general public by providing the visitor a hands-on experience of "life in the Jurassic"...."

I don't really know what any of it meant, but it was freakin rad

Random cool Day of the Dead art....

Runyon Canyon

Venice beach grossed me out....but the buildings were gorgeous. I wondered how beautiful it would be if NO ONE WAS THERE.....

Some crazy band in Silver Lake....they were pretty cool.....

All and all, I had an awesome time. Stay tuned for a Yosemite blog and a SanFran blog.....
